NCAA Game Summary - Eastern Washington at Cal State Northridge

Northridge, CA (Sports Network) - Brandon Perry came off the bench to post a double-double consisting of 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Cal State Northridge Matadors dismissed the Eastern Washington Eagles, 96-79, in non- conference action at The Matadome.
Also producing a double-double for the Matadors (1-0) was Stephen Maxwell who tallied 21 points and 10 boards in the season-opening victory. Coming up two rebounds shy of his own double-double was Stephan Hicks who posted 19 points, followed by Allan Guei with 10 points and five steals. Despite shooting just 1-of-7 from the floor and missing all three of his three-point tries, Josh Greene still made a major impact as he handed out a game-high 13 assists.
The Eagles (0-1) were paced by Martin Seiferth who had a massive double-double of his own with 27 points and 17 boards. Seiferth also accounted for a game- high seven blocked shots as well. Justin Crosgile and Venky Jois contributed 18 and 12 points, respectively, and while the former delivered seven assists to lead the group, he also turned the ball over nine times.
CSUN shot only 38.5 percent from the field in the first half, hitting a mere 1-of-5 behind the three-point line, but because the visitors turned the ball over 13 times, the Matadors were able to claim a 36-32 edge at the break.
In the second half the hosts responded with 53.3 percent accuracy from the floor and 10-of-11 at the free-throw line en route to the 17-point triumph.
In addition to forcing 22 miscues on the night, Cal State Northridge also held a 54-40 advantage on the glass.
