Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - Tyrone Wallace scored a season-high 16 points as the California Golden Bears defeated the Washington State Cougars, 67-54, in Pac-12 action at the Haas Pavilion.
Wallace came off the bench and also recorded six rebounds in the California (10-6, 2-2 Pac-12) victory. Allen Crabbe and Justin Cobbs scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, as the Golden Bears won for the second time in three games.
For the Cougars (9-7, 0-3), Mike Ladd recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Brock Motum and Royce Woolridge scored 16 and 12 points respectively, as WSU lost a third straight game.
WSU was just 35.7 percent accurate from the floor, including 1-of-8 from beyond the arc in the first half, while California was 2-of-6 from long range and 42.9 percent from the floor, en route to a 29-27 Golden Bear advantage at the break.
California improved to 56.3 percent from the floor in the second half, but it was a 19-of-24 showing at the free-throw line that carried the squad to the double-digit victory.
WSU committed 25 personal fouls shot a mere 33.3 percent from the floor. California shot 48.6 percent from the field and made 28-of-36 free throws in the game.
