Fort Worth, TX (Sports Network) - Led by 12 points from Dusty Hannahs, the Texas Tech Red Raiders took down the TCU Horned Frogs, 62-53, in the Big 12 Conference opener for both squads at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
For the Red Raiders (8-4, 1-0 Big 12), Jordan Tolbert just missed a double- double with 11 points and nine rebounds and Jaye Crockett had a team-high 13 points.
Devonta Abron's 16 points led the Horned Frogs (9-5, 0-1) while Connell Crossland pulled down nine rebounds.
Texas Tech shot 44.4 percent from the field and connected on 4-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc, enabling the Red Raiders to take a 29-22 advantage into halftime. TCU made 42.9 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half and was good on its only 3-point attempt of the period.
In the second half, the Red Raiders shot well, hitting 52.4 percent of their field goal attempts. The Horned Frogs struggled from the field after halftime, making just 30.3 percent of their field goal tries and missing all six of their 3-point attempts. TCU was able to cut its deficit to just four early in the half, but would get no closer. Texas Tech pushed its advantage to as many as 16 as the Red Raiders cruised to victory, winning their third-straight and snapping TCU's three-game winning streak.
Texas Tech outscored TCU from beyond the 3-point arc, 18-3. The Horned Frogs had the edge on the boards, outrebounding the Red Raiders 35-30.
