Morgantown, WV (Sports Network) - Led by 21 points and nine rebounds from Romero Osby, the Oklahoma Sooners downed the West Virginia Mountaineers, 67-57, at WVU Coliseum in the Big 12 opener for both clubs.

For the Sooners (10-3, 1-0 Big 12), Steven Pledger added 12 points.

Terry Henderson paced the Mountaineers (7-6, 0-1) with 21 points, while Jabarie Hinds chipped in with 11 points and Juwan Staten finished with 10 points to go along with seven assists.

Though they only connected on 35.5 percent of their field goal attempts to open the contest, the Mountaineers drained 9-of-19 from beyond the 3-point arc as they took a 35-29 lead into halftime. Oklahoma shot 43.3 percent from the field in the first half, but just 2-of-6 from 3-point range.

In the second half, the Mountaineers continued to struggle from the field, shooting just 24.1 percent. But unlike the first half, they had no success from long distance, making only 2-of-11 from 3-point range. The Sooners improved to 45.2 percent on their field goal attempts, though they too had trouble from deep, making only 2-of-9 on their 3-point attempts.

WVU opened the second half on an 8-2 run to push their advantage to 13 at 43-31. Oklahoma responded, reeling off 18 of the next 23 points to take a 49-48 lead with just over nine minutes to play. After the Mountaineers pulled back ahead 52-49, the Sooners had the final run of the game and held the Mountaineers to just five points over the final five minutes, grabbing the victory and handing WVU the loss in its first-ever Big 12 contest.

The Sooners dominated the Mountaineers in the paint, outscoring them 30-10. Oklahoma also had the edge in second chance points, 15-8.
