(Tuesday, November 27)

Final Score: Nebraska 79, Wake Forest 63

Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Andre Almeida and Ray Gallegos netted 20 points each as the Nebraska Cornhuskers ran off to a 79-63 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in an ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchup at Joel Coliseum.

Almeida also notched a double-double by grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds as Nebraska (5-1) bounced back from its first loss of the season. Dylan Talley went just 4-of-16 from the floor, but still managed to provide 14 points and eight rebounds. Brandon Ubel chipped in 11 points before fouling out in just 18 minutes of action.

Madison Jones came off the bench for Wake Forest (3-3) to score a team-high 14 points. Codi Miller-McIntyre scored 11 points as the Demon Deacons brief two- game winning streak ended. Travis McKie and C.J. Harris were both bottled up by the Cornhuskers, as they combined to make only 3-of-17 field goal attempts in the contest. McKie was able to pull down a team-best seven boards.

Although Nebraska led for most of the first half, the game stayed close as it shot only 39.3 percent from the floor. The Demon Deacons went into the intermission trailing 28-24 after they made only 32.1 percent of their field goal attempts. Wake Forest received a boost as its bench outscored the Cornhuskers' reserves by 12 points in the opening 20 minutes.

Nebraska stayed in control after the break and led by a double-digit margin for the final 13:19 of the contest. Wake Forest was unable to overcome the deficit despite shooting 53.6 percent from the field in the second stanza. The Cornhuskers kept the home team trailing on the scoreboard by draining 62.1 percent of their field goal attempts and 12-of-16 at the charity stripe in the final 20 minutes of action.

Nebraska avenged its two-point loss to the Demon Deacons in this event last season by owning a 36-30 advantage in the rebounding battle. Wake Forest was unable to overcome its poor 3-of-16 shooting performance from beyond the arc.
