San Marcos, TX (Sports Network) - Joel Wright scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Texas State Bobcats held on to defeat the Seattle Redhawks, 67-65, in Western Athletic Conference play at Strahan Coliseum.
Also scoring 16 points for the Bobcats (9-19, 4-11 WAC) was Deonte Jones, while Matt Staff and Reid Koenen responded with 14 and 12 points, respectively, as the team won for the second time in as many games.
The Redhawks (7-19, 2-14), losers of six straight, were paced by Chad Rasmussen with a game-high 18 points on 6-of-15 shooting behind the 3-point line. Prince Obasi logged a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists, while Allen Tate responded with 14 points off the bench.
Seattle shot a sizzling 61.5 percent from the floor in the first half, including 6-of-10 behind the 3-point line, but led by just a single point at the break, 38-37.
In the second half a 6-0 run by the Bobcats moved them ahead late, the team managing to hold on despite shooting just 39.1 percent from the field and 10- of-18 at the free-throw line in the period.
In a game that featured five ties and six lead changes, Seattle didn't do itself any favors by turning the ball over 19 times, leading to 24 points for the hosts.
