Whalen guides Lynx over Stars
Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Lindsay Whalen scored 22 points with seven assists as the Minnesota Lynx grabbed a 91-84 victory over the San Antonio Stars.
Maya Moore gave 21 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Monica Wright added 17 points for the Lynx, who have won four of their last five.
Kayla McBride had 17 points, Danielle Robinson added 13 and Jayne Appel had nine points with 11 rebounds for the Stars, who had a two-game winning streak stopped.
The Stars had a five-point lead with four minutes to play in the second quarter, but the Lynx scored the final 11 points of the half to take a 41-35 lead into the break.
Minnesota's lead went to 14 on a Moore jumper with 6 1/2 minutes to play in the third, but San Antonio cut its deficit to five as the teams went into the fourth quarter with Minnesota holding a 59-54 edge.
The Lynx started the fourth quarter on a 14-6 run and held a comfortable lead the rest of the way.
