=== Astrology retired to Taylor Made ===
Nicholasville, KY (Sports Network) - Former Triple Crown competitor Astrology
has been retired from racing and will stand at Taylor Made Stallions. The 4-
year-old colt had been idle since finishing sixth in an allowance/optional
claiming race at Churchill Downs in June.
"Astrology is one of the best-looking horses I've seen by A.P. Indy, who's one
of the best sire of sires in the world, and he's bred identically to
Bernardini," said Ben Taylor, Vice President of Taylor Made Stallions.
"Astrology was a top juvenile around one turn, and showed that he could
stretch out his speed and quality to be a Classic 3-year-old. We're thankful
to Mrs. Barbara Banke, George Bolton and the entire Stonestreet team for
choosing Taylor Made."
Astrology competed in the 2011 Triple Crown prep races, finishing second in
both the Sunland Derby and Jerome Stakes. Ridden by Mike Smith, he was third
in the Preakness Stakes as a 15-1 longshot, beaten just 2 1/4-lengths by
Shackleford.
"Astrology is an absolutely beautiful individual and very classic looking. He
had a ton of ability, and I have no doubt that he was a Grade 1 winner on his
best day," stated trainer Steve Asmussen.
Astrology, owned by Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton, retires with career
earnings of $516,977 in 12 starts while posting three wins, three seconds and
three thirds.
