University Park, PA (Sports Network) - Talor Battle scored 21 points to lead the Penn State Nittany Lions to a strong 65-51 victory over the William & Mary Tribe in a non-league affair at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Jamelle Cornley added 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for Penn State (1-0), while Stanley Pringle posted 12 points in the victory.

Danny Sumner was the only player in double-figures for William & Mary (0-1), as the forward tallied 15 points in the loss.

The Lions held William & Mary to a meager 36.0 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half and went into the break with a 35-24 lead.

In the second stanza, Penn State was able to hold off the Tribe with a 43.5 percent shooting effort from the floor, and went on to win by a 14-point margin.

The Nittany Lions shot 46.9 percent in the game, while William & Mary posted a lackluster 38.5 percent showing from the floor.
