State College, PA (Sports Network) - Semaj Inge turned in 19 points, six assists and five rebounds to pace the Temple Owls in a 65-59 victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions in a non-conference showdown at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Ryan Brooks added 15 points in the win for Temple (4-3), while Lavoy Allen chipped in 11 points and hauled in 10 rebounds. Dionte Christmas, though, was held to just two points and that was surprising considering he was averaging a healthy 21.8 ppg coming into the contest.
Talor Battle scored 19 points and dished out seven assists to lead Penn State (7-2), while Jamelle Cornley contributed 14 points and six rebounds in the losing effort.
Penn State was held to a meager 26.9 percent shooting from the floor during the first stanza, allowing Temple to take a 28-24 halftime lead.
In the second half, Temple made 44.4 percent of its attempts from the field and 10-of-13 at the charity stripe, as it held on for the six-point win.
The Lions shot a disappointing 34.6 percent from the floor in the loss compared to a 46.2 percent effort by the Owls.
