State College, PA (Sports Network) - Jamelle Cornley dropped in a game-high 24 points and the Penn State Nittany Lions rallied to beat the Iowa Hawkeyes, 63-59, in Big Ten play at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Cornley made 11-of-17 shots from the floor and grabbed six boards, as PSU (16-5, 5-3 BigTen) won its third game in a row. Talor Battle turned in 20 points and six assists, while Stanley Pringle had 11 points in the triumph.
Jake Kelley tallied 19 points for the Hawkeyes (12-8, 2-5), who suffered their fourth loss in the past five games. Aaron Fuller also got into the mix, notching 16 points in the setback.
Iowa knocked down 47.8 percent of its field goal tries in the first half and carried a 29-22 lead to the break.
The Lions trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half, but used a 9-0 spurt and a 6-of-14 performance from long range to come from behind for the four-point victory.
PSU made the most of the 13 turnovers it forced, generating 23 points off those miscues in the game.
