Frisco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The New England Revolution slumped to a
seventh straight defeat on Saturday, losing 2-0 to FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium
on goals from Andres Escobar and Tesho Akindele.
Escobar found the net after 29 minutes while Akindele added the insurance
tally in stoppage time to extend FCD's unbeaten streak to five games.
The Revs didn't offer up a lot in attack and gave head coach Jay Heaps little
reason to believe his side was on the verge of snapping out of its funk.
Escobar was a particular threat in the first half and he got down the left
wing in the 18th minute and crossed for Blas Perez, who sent a looping header
over the net.
But Escobar was at it again in the 29th and he made the most of the chance by
beating defender Darrius Barnes and lashing a shot past goalkeeper Bobby
The New England netminder was busy in the second half as he first tipped a
shot from Escobar over the net before denying Akindele with a fingertip save
that diverted the ball narrowly over the crossbar.
The Revs were fortunate not to go down by two goals in the 67th when a header
from Je-Vaughn Watson deflected off of Patrick Mullins and struck the post.
However, Akindele put the match away in stoppage time when he took a pass from
Victor Ulloa and beat Shuttleworth at his near post.
