Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Pa Modou Kah scored deep into stoppage time
to help the Portland Timbers rally for a 2-2 draw against FC Dallas at
Providence Park on Wednesday.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first half to goals from Fabian Castillo and
Blas Perez, Portland pulled a goal back in the 79th minute through Will
Johnson's penalty kick.
Dallas then had two players sent off before Kah rescued a point for the
Timbers, who entered the contest having won three of their last four games.
The visitors were the better side in the first 45 minutes, and after Adam
Moffat had a shot deflected off the post in the early stages, Castillo opened
the scoring after he took down a chipped pass from Perez and beat goalkeeper
Perez then found the net himself in the 39th with a first-time shot after some
good work on the right wing by Tesho Akindele set up the chance.
But Portland came out strong after the break, and after some heavy pressure,
the Timbers finally found the net themselves when Fanendo Adi was tripped
inside the penalty area by Je-Vaughn Watson.
Johnson sent goalkeeper Raul Fernandez the wrong way from the spot, and
Portland had new life.
Things then fell apart for Dallas over the final 10 minutes as Moises
Hernandez was sent off in the 87th minute for a poor challenge on Danny
O'Rourke, while Perez also saw red a few minutes later for stepping on Kah.
Kah had the last laugh, however, as a deflected shot from Max Urruti fell to
him inside the area, allowing him to fire home his first goal of the season.
