Dortmund, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) -
Borussia Dortmund made a bright start to its Champions League campaign on Tuesday, cruising to a 2-0 defeat of Arsenal at the Westfalenstadion.
Dortmund took advantage of an Arsenal back line that has been decimated by injuries of late as Ciro Immobile and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored in the 45th and 48th minutes, respectively, to jump out to an early lead in Group D.
The hosts created a flurry of scoring chances in the opening period but only managed to break the deadlock on the stroke of halftime as Immobile gained possession inside his own half and went the distance before sliding a shot across goal and just inside the far post.
