Texas Rangers (35-38) at LA Angels of Anaheim (39-33), 10:05 p.m.

Probable Starting Pitchers: Texas - Nick Martinez (1-4, 4.44) LA Angels - Jered Weaver (7-6, 3.67)

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers will square off against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the second matchup of a three-game set Saturday at Angel Stadium, looking to rebound from a Friday night loss.

Texas will trot out Nick Martinez, who has struggled this season on the mound. Ace Jered Weaver gets the starting nod for the Angels in the contest.

Martinez, a 23-year-old right hander, owns a 1-4 record this season entering the matchup, and has pitched his way to a 4.44 earned run average. The Florida native has struck out just 25 batters and walked 24 in 13 appearances - eight of which have been starts.

He'll look to correct a three-game personal losing streak Saturday. In his last outing, Martinez went six innings and surrendered nine hits, but gave up just two earned runs with three strikeouts. Still, he was tagged with the loss after his Rangers could only muster a single run in a 5-1 defeat at Seattle.

In five starts on the road this season, Martinez is 1-2 with a 3.41 ERA in 34 1/3 innings pitched.

Weaver picked up his seventh win of the season earlier this month, but in two starts since, he's gone 0-2 and raised his ERA up over three-tenths of a point.

He'll take to the mound sporting a 7-6 record with a 3.67 ERA in 15 starts. His latest outing - a 4-3 Angels loss to Cleveland on Monday - was his third in his last four outings. Weaver went six innings and gave up five hits and four earned runs, which included two homers. He struck out just four batters, which is the second-fewest total for Weaver in almost two months.

In 32 career starts against Texas, Weaver has compiled a 13-8 record with a 3.66 ERA, 157 strikeouts and a .249 batting average against. He's thrown two career complete games against the Rangers as well.

Joe Saunders and the Rangers were roughed up Friday night in the first game of the series, which concluded in Los Angeles' 7-3 victory.

Saunders lasted 4 2/3 innings on the hill, allowed 10 hits and gave up seven runs - four of which were earned. His record fell to 0-3 on the season.

Four Angels players notched two hits each in the ballgame, with David Freese plating two RBI. Garrett Richards earned the win for Los Angeles - his seventh on the year - after striking out seven Rangers batters in six innings of work.

"We had a tough game, long plane flight, came back here with good energy pre- game and played a good ballgame tonight. So that's a good sign," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said afterward.

Despite the loss, the Rangers have still won 16 of their last 21 games with the Angels.
