Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Alec Brown and Keifer Sykes scored 18
points apiece as the Green Bay Phoenix coasted to a 68-54 decision over the
Cleveland State Vikings in a Horizon League matchup at the Wolstein Center.
Greg Mays added 15 points for Green Bay (21-5, 11-2 HL) and Jordan Fouse
pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Trey Lewis paced the Vikings (17-10, 9-4) with 20 points on 6-of-19 shooting
from the floor. Marlin Mason led the hosts on the glass with nine boards. The
loss snapped Cleveland State's seven-game winning streak.
The Phoenix knocked down 45.8 percent of their field goal attempts including a
5-of-8 clip from 3-point range in the opening period. CSU went into the
intermission trailing, 32-19, after it was limited to 28.6 percent efficiency
from the floor in the first half.
Green Bay improved to connect on 52.6 percent of its shots from the field and
converted 15-of-23 attempts at the free-throw line after the break. The
Vikings were unable to narrow the gap despite outrebounding the visitors,
26-20, in the second stanza.
The Phoenix outscored CSU, 20-7, at the charity stripe and never trailed in
the contest. The Vikings finished 5-of-23 from 3-point range.
