WNBA Game Summary - Washington at Connecticut

(Sunday, August 10)

Final Score: Connecticut 89, Washington 81 (2-OT)

Uncasville, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Kelsey Bone scored 15 points with 11 rebounds to help the Connecticut Sun to an 89-81 double overtime win over the Washington Mystics on Sunday.

Alex Bentley paced the Sun with 18 points, while Alyssa Thomas chipped in with 11 points and Chiney Ogwumike netted nine points with nine boards.

Washington's Ivory Latta led all scorers with 20 points in the setback.

Connecticut led by three when Bria Hartley converted a pair at the line and then knocked down a 3-pointer to give Washington a 69-67 lead with just over a minute left in the fourth.

Each team split a pair at the line before Kelsey Griffin's layup at the buzzer forced overtime. Renee Montgomery then knocked in a 3 to tie the game at 75-75 in the overtime, and neither team scored from there to force another extra session.

Griffin knocked down a trey that put Connecticut up by four and Thomas followed a Monique Currie jumper with layup to maintain the four-point lead. Montgomery then hit a pair of free throws and the Sun sealed the win from the line in the closing minute.
