Lynx drop Stars
Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Seimone Augustus led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points as the Minnesota Lynx took down the San Antonio Stars, 88-78, on Friday.
Lindsay Whalen scored 14 points and Maya Moore, fresh off her career-high 48 points in Tuesday's double overtime win, added a modest 12 points with eight rebounds in Minnesota's sixth straight triumph.
Six Lynx players scored in double figures and eight of the nine that took the floor netted at least six.
Danielle Robinson scored 15 points with seven assists as the Stars fell for the fourth time in five games. Jayne Appel and Becky Hammon each scored 10 points, with Appel grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds and Hammon handing out nine assists.
The Stars led by eight early on but saw their lead fall to just two, 17-15, after the first quarter. From there it was all Minnesota, which took control early in the second and never trailed the rest of the way.
Whalen's short bank shot with 4:04 to play gave the Lynx a commanding 82-66 lead, and they cruised the rest of the way.
