NCAA Game Summary - South Alabama at Georgia State

Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jay Jones rushed for two touchdowns as the South Alabama Jaguars easily beat the Georgia State Panthers, 38-17, in a Sun Belt Conference matchup at the Georgia Dome.
The Jaguars' (5-6, 3-3 Sun Belt) quarterback Ross Metheny had 280 passing yards and a touchdown on 19-of-28 passing. Jones had 102 yards on 17 carries in addition to his two scores. Shavarez Smith caught 10 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown.
Ronnie Bell threw for 321 yards and an interception on 17-of-34 passing for the Panthers (0-12, 0-7). Robert Davis and Albert Wilson combined for 10 catches and 211 yards.
South Alabama scored first after Jones had a five-yard touchdown rush with 7:42 left in the first quarter. Jones scored again on a 17-yard touchdown run to put the Jaguars up 14-0.
The Panthers answered back with a 33-yard field goal from Wil Lutz.
Metheny had a one-yard touchdown run for South Alabama to make the score 21-3. With 34 seconds before the half Aleem Sunanon connected on a 42-yard field goal for the Jaguars.
The Jaguars scored first in the third quarter as Metheny completed a 37-yard touchdown pass to Smith.
The Panthers countered with a one-yard Bell touchdown rush to make the score 31-10.
Kendall Houston scored on a one-yard touchdown rush for South Alabama with 1:09 left in the third.
Sean Jeppesen ran the ball in from one-yard away to make the score 38-17 with just three minutes remaining. but it was not nearly enough for the Panthers.
