Description: The Indians are expected to exercise their 2015 option on Mike Aviles according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: Indians general manager Chris Antonetti was undecided about Aviles' $3.5 million option a few weeks ago, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Antonetti is leaning towards bringing him back. Aviles hit .247 and played six different positions in 2014.

Description: Indians utility man Mike Aviles (concussion) is available on Thursday according to
Insight: Aviles has not returned to the field since Sept. 1 after a diving catch left him dizzy and nauseous. Indian team doctors cleared him on Wednesday, and he passed the MLB concussion protocol. The 33-year-old is batting .245/.270/.334 in 97 games this season.

Description: Indians utility man Mike Aviles is dealing with concussion symptoms according to
Insight: Aviles left Monday's game after he made a diving catch, feeling light-headed and dizzy. Doctors initially cleared him of concussions, but then his symptoms got worse. He will not go on the 7-day concussion disabled list because the rosters have expanded, but the Indians will follow MLB protocol before allowing him to get back on the field.
8/1/2014 3:39:00 PM
Description: Indians utility man Mike Aviles will get the start at shortstop with Asdrubal Cabrera having been shipped off to Washington. He'll bat in the same spot as Cabrera - No. 2.
Insight: Aviles is batting .257 without much power and 10 stolen bases in 226 at-bats, so his fantasy value moving forward is minimal.
5/31/2014 9:28:00 PM
Description: Indians utility man Mike Aviles logged three hits in Saturday's win against Colorado.
Insight: His eighth inning single plated the game-winning run. Aviles' .280 average is his highest since 2010 when he hit .304 in 110 games for Kansas City.
Hot5/8/2014 9:42:00 PM
Description: Cleveland utilty player Mike Aviles had a big game Thursday against Minnesota.
Insight: He corked three hits with two of them going for extra bases. The veteran has now logged ten hits in his last 17 at bats (.588). Aviles has played four different positions for the Indians this year including left field, shortstop, second base and third.
9/1/2013 5:35:00 PM
Description: Mike Aviles' first career grand slam couldn't have come at a better time. It broke a scoreless tie in the ninth inning Sunday against Detroit.
Insight: The four-run blast was Aviles' only hit of the afternoon. The Cleveland third baseman has now homered in two of his last four outings. Despite his recent power surge, Aviles doesn't play often enough to be a legitimate fantasy option (just 306 at bats).
7/4/2013 12:10:00 PM
Description: Indians infielder Mike Aviles is starting at shortstop Thursday with Asdrubal Cabrera at DH.
Insight: Aviles is 7-for-21 (.333) with two homers against Royals starter James Shields.
2/7/2013 4:12:00 PM
Description: The Indians have reached an agreement with infielder Mike Aviles on a new two-year, $6 million contract.
Insight: Aviles had been eligible for arbitration but it never came to that. He had his moments last year with the Red Sox, producing 13 homers and a .250 average in 136 games. Aviles should find his way onto many fantasy rosters next season thanks to his positional flexibility (eligible at shortstop, second base and third).
11/3/2012 6:29:00 PM
Description: Toronto traded shortstop Mike Aviles to Cleveland for relief pitcher Esmil Rogers.
Insight: That was quick. Aviles didn't last two weeks with the Blue Jays. He spent the 2012 season with Boston but was traded to Toronto earlier this offseason as part of the John Farrell trade.
10/21/2012 10:29:00 AM
Description: The Red Sox have sent shortstop Mike Aviles to the Blue Jays in exchange for manager John Farrell.
Insight: It looks like the Red Sox have found their new skipper. Aviles (.250, 13 HR, 60 RBI) will compete with Yunel Escobar (.253, 9 HR, 51 RBI) for Toronto's starting shortstop job in spring training.
8/19/2012 7:19:00 PM
Description: Red Sox shortstop Mike Aviles will be on the sidelines for Sunday night's contest against New York.
Insight: Aviles (.255, 11 HR, 52 RBI) has now missed three of Boston's last four games, so it seems he's fallen out of favor with manager Bobby Valentine. Aviles emerged as a low-risk, high reward fantasy option earlier in the year but now he's just simply not playing enough to warrant a spot on any fantasy rosters.
8/16/2012 4:03:00 PM
Description: Boston shortstop Mike Aviles won't be in the starting lineup Thursday night against Baltimore.
Insight: Aviles (.252, 11 HR, 52 RBI) exploded for three hits Sunday in Boston's blowout win over the Indians but so far he has struggled against the Orioles (0-for-8 in the first two games of the series).
8/3/2012 6:02:00 PM
Description: Red Sox shortstop Mike Aviles is back in the starting lineup for Friday night's contest versus Minnesota. Aviles missed five consecutive games earlier this week while dealing with turf toe.
Insight: Almost all of his production this season came during April and May (.264, 8 HR, 32 RBI in the first two months, .226, 2 HR, 19 RBI since) so fantay owners shouldn't get too excited about Aviles' return.
8/1/2012 5:09:00 PM
Description: Boston shortstop Mike Aviles will miss his fourth game in a row Wednesday against the Tigers. He's still battling turf toe.
Insight: It remains to be seen whether or not Aviles' injury is serious enough to land him on the DL. For now, the Red Sox will continue to employ hot-hitting Pedro Ciriaco (.348, 0 HRs, 9 RBIs) at shortstop in Aviles' place.
7/30/2012 7:04:00 PM
Description: Red Sox shortstop Mike Aviles, still struggling with turf toe, will be out of the lineup again on Monday.
Insight: Aviles played Saturday against New York, but he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and overall he is hitless in his last 11 at bats. If Aviles (.252, 10 HRs, 51 RBIs) is forced to go on the disabled list, his replacement Pedro Ciriaco (.349, 0 HRs, 8 RBIs) could become an interesting fantasy option.
7/21/2012 5:26:00 PM
Description: Boston shortstop Mike Aviles is dealing with turf toe and isn't in the lineup Saturday.
Insight: Turf toe is a common injury among football players and it has a tendency to linger. Even if Aviles doesn't require a trip to the disabled list he still can expect to have to play through pain for awhile.
Hot7/7/2012 10:02:00 AM
Description: Boston shortstop Mike Aviles is a career .563 hitter (9-for-16) against Yankees starter Freddy Garcia.
Insight: Aviles (.266, 9 HR, 43 RBI) has always been a second-half hitter and could become a solid fantasy contributor if the trend continues. His career second-half batting average is .319 with an OPS of .805. The OPS figure is 126 points better than before the break.
7/1/2012 2:59:00 PM
Description: Boston shortstop Mike Aviles has been scratched from the Red Sox's starting lineup on Sunday because of an illness.
Insight: Aviles (.266, 9 HRs, 43 RBIs) enters Sunday's action just one homer shy of matching his career high set back in 2008 when he was a member of the Kansas City Royals.
6/25/2012 6:52:00 PM
Description: Red Sox shortstop Mike Aviles is not in the starting lineup for Monday night's matchup with Toronto.
Insight: Aviles (.262) crushed eight homers in the season's opening two months but since the beginning of June, he has only gone deep once.
