Lagares, Mets top Phillies
Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Juan Lagares was able to bring in two runs as part of a three-run seventh inning, and the New York Mets grabbed a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies to open a three-game series.
Wilmer Flores drove in a run and Eric Campbell stole home as part of a double steal for the Mets, who snapped a two-game slide.
Jacob deGrom (7-6) allowed a run on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts over seven innings to pick up the win.
Cody Asche drove in the only run of the game for the Phillies, who had a four- game winning streak snapped.
David Buchanan pitched six innings and allowed one run on four hits. Jake Diekman (3-4) was charged with three unearned runs in the loss.
Matt den Dekker walked with one out in the seventh and later stole second with two outs. Flores was then plunked by Diekman and Eric Campbell was walked to load the bases. Lagares followed with a fly ball to shallow right that should have been the final out, but Grady Sizemore flubbed the catch and both runners crossed the plate.
Lagares then stole second and Campbell came home on the toss to second, beating the throw home for a 4-1 lead.
Jeurys Familia pitched around a two-out single in the eighth, while Jenrry Mejia tossed a scoreless ninth for his 20th save of the season.
The Mets have won 12 of the 17 games with the Phillies this season ... The Phillies were just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and stranded seven ... The Mets placed second baseman Daniel Murphy on the 15-day disabled list and selected the contract of infielder Dilson Herrera from Double-A Binghamton on Friday.
