Description: Robert Griffin II told the Washington Post that his son is ready to resume practicing on the field. RG3 underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL on January 9th.
Insight: Griffin's father said the transition should take place some time in the next week. So far in his recovery, Griffin has been limited to running on a treadmill and working out in the pool. It'll be close but we think Griffin will be ready to start Week 1 for the Skins.

Description: Dr. James Andrews says Robert Griffin III's recovery from knee surgery is "superhuman," according to ESPN's Stephania Bell.
Insight: Andrews performed Griffin's right knee surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL on Jan. 9. "I’ve been real mum on talking too much about RG III. He wants his recovery to be fairly private but I can tell you he’s way ahead of schedule. His recovery has been unbelievable so far," Andrews told ESPN. "RGIII is one those superhumans. First patient I ever had like that was Bo Jackson. And recently I, of course, had Adrian Peterson, who is also superhuman. They have an unbelievable ability to recover, where as a normal human being may not be able to recover."

Description: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears from Redskins team doctor Dr. James Andrews that quarterback Robert Griffin III is "way ahead of schedule" in his recovery from ACL surgery.
Insight: RG3's goal from the very beginning has been to start Week 1 and right now, there's no sign that he won't be able to do just that. If that's the case, Griffin III should be a first round pick in every fantasy draft come August.

Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III's goal is to be ready for Opening Day, but a recent tweet brings it all into the correct focus. "My goal is to start Week 1, that doesn't mean I will compromise my career to do so."
Insight: Catastrophic knee injuries simply aren't as big of a deal as they used to be, but not everyone is Adrian Peterson. Griffin had surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL on Jan. 9 which gives him just eight months to recover. At this point if you select him you must have a viable backup on your roster.

2/2/2013 8:22:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was honored as the NFL's Rookie of the Year for the 2012 season.
Insight: And surprisingly, it wasn't even that close. Griffin III received 29 first place votes while Andrew Luck tallied only 11. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson came in third with 10 first place nods. Griffin III was sensational last season, breaking the rookie records for quarterback rating (102.4) and rushing yards by a quarterback (815). RG3 recently underwent knee surgery but the Redskins are optimistic he'll be back before the start of the regular season.

Description: Washington QB Robert Griffin III's reconstructive knee surgery involved a "direct repair of his LCL and a re-do of his previous ACL reconstruction," according to Dr. James Andrews. SOURCE: Jay Glazer, FOX Sports
Insight: "We expect a full recovery and it is everybody's hope and belief that due to Robert's high motivation, he will be ready for the 2013 season," Andrews said. The initial timetable for Griffin's recovery is 6-8 months.

1/9/2013 7:17:00 PM
Description: Washington QB Robert Griffin III underwent successful knee reconstruction surgery on Wednesday.
Insight: The surgery was performed by Redskins team doctor James Andrews. Griffin's timetable for recovery is 6-to-8 months. Kirk Cousins would start at quarterback for the Redskins if Griffin is unable to return for the start of next season.

1/8/2013 8:01:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will undergo surgery on his torn lateral collateral ligament (LCL) this week and at that time doctors will determine how much damage has been done to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: Griffin suffered a partially torn LCL in his right knee during the Wild Card loss to Seattle and likely tore at least part of his ACL. The rookie QB tore the ACL in the same knee in 2009 and it required two screws and a rubber band to hold it together, which prevented doctors from being able to judge the extent of the damage this time.

1/7/2013 8:42:00 PM
Description: According to the Washington Post, Redskins QB Robert Griffin III is dealing with partial tears to his right ACL and LCL.
Insight: There's been no word yet on whether or not Griffin will undergo surgery to repair the damage. ACL injuries take a long time to recover from so it's no guarantee that Griffin will be ready for the start of the 2013 regular season.

1/7/2013 5:41:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III will have his knee examined by Dr. James Andrews Tuesday in Florida. Griffin III re-injured his knee in Sunday's playoff loss to Seattle.
Insight: The Washington Post reported Monday that an MRI showed partial tears of the ACL and MCL but we won't know the full extent of Griffin's injury until after he meets with Dr. Andrews. It's not looking good for RG3 but at least he'll have all offseason to rehab the injury.

1/6/2013 7:30:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is done for the day after re-injuring his knee halfway through the fourth quarter.
Insight: Griffin took a hard hit in the first quarter and was never the same after that. He'll finish the afternoon with 84 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. RG3 has been replaced by fellow rookie Kirk Cousins. Trailing by 10 with two minutes left, it looks like Washington's season is just about over.

12/31/2012 1:14:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III had trouble getting on the same page with his receivers Sunday versus the Cowboys (9-for-18, 100 yards) but his 10-yard touchdown sprint in the third quarter put the Redskins ahead for good.
Insight: Alfred Morris had a tremendous game out of the backfield (career-high 200 yards rushing) so Griffin really wasn't asked to do a whole lot. It's clear Griffin's knee isn't 100 percent but he picked his spots and was able to avoid making any costly mistakes. The NFC East Champs will host the Seahawks next Sunday in the first round of the playoffs. Neither team has lost a game since November 25th.

12/23/2012 5:34:00 PM
Description: Washington QB Robert Griffin III (knee) played through a knee sprain and completed 16-of-24 for 198 yards and two touchdowns with one pick Sunday. He only ran twice for four yards.
Insight: Sal Paolantonio of ESPN speculated that Griffin was only at "30-40 percent" capacity and noted that the QB wanted no part of running the football to the second level of the defense or taking contact. All things considered, it was a decent return to the lineup.

12/23/2012 12:00:00 PM
Description: Washington QB Robert Griffin III (knee) is active for Week 16 against Philadelphia
Insight: Griffin missed last week's game at Cleveland due to a mild LCL sprain, but he fully participated in practice this week. Fantasy owners should get him back in the lineup for the championship game as he had a huge game versus Philadelphia in their first meeting.

12/21/2012 4:44:00 PM
Description: Washington QB Robert Griffin III (knee) was a full participant in Friday's practice and has been upgraded to probable for Sunday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: Griffin missed last week's game at Cleveland due to a mild LCL sprain, but he fully participated in practice this week. Fantasy owners should prepare to have him back for the fantasy championship game. Griffin went 14-of-15 for 200 yards passing and four touchdowns and ran for another 84 yards in Week 11 against the Eagles.

12/19/2012 12:50:00 PM
Description: Washington QB Robert Griffin III, who didn't play against Cleveland, was out on the practice field Wednesday.
Insight: The Redskins' other rookie quarterback, Kirk Cousins, was impressive in his first NFL start, throwing for 329 yards in a 38-21 win over the Browns, but RGIII is not in danger of becoming Wally Pipp. We should know more later in the week.
