Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is inactive for Week 9.
Insight: Cousins was dropped in favor of Colt McCoy and with the return of Robert Griffin III this isn't a surprise.

Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins was pulled at halftime of Week 7 versus Tennessee.
Insight: Cousins was 10-for-16 for 139 yards for zero touchdowns and Washington was down at the half 10-6. Colt McCoy started the second half by hitting Pierre Garcon for a 70-yard score so this might get interesting.
10/14/2014 11:38:00 AM
Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins will continue to start, according to coach Jay Gruden.
Insight: Cousins is throwing for a lot of yards and posting good fantasy numbers, he's just not winning football games so there has been talk around Washington about other options. Fortunately, Colt McCoy isn't one of them and Cousins should continue to start until RGIII is ready to play again.

Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 354 yards and two touchdowns, but also was intercepted three times in the fourth quarter.

Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for an incredible 427 yards and three touchdowns in a loss against the Eagles on Sunday.
Insight: Cousins completed 30-of-48 passes and did throw an interception in addition to the three touchdowns. Cousins is proving to be a much better fantasy option than Robert Griffin III. Against the right matchup, Cousins is a clear QB1.

Description: Redskins Quarterback Kirk Cousins was thrusted into action on Sunday, and made the most of his opportunity.
Insight: The quarterback controversy is offically in full force in Washington, as Cousins led the Skins to a 41-10 victory. He was a major reason why they won by so much, completing 22/33 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. With Robert Griffin III out 4-5 weeks with a bad ankle, Cousins will have the opportunity to not only fill in, but also take hold of the QB postion, atop the depth chart. Cousins will be a borderline QB1 heading into Week 3 at Philadelphia. If he is on your waiver wire, and you need help at QB, he's your guy.

Description: Despite new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's affinity for Kirk Cousins, it seems unlikely that Cleveland would pursue a trade for the Redskins QB. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: The feeling within the organization is that Brian Hoyer gives the team the best chance to win. Assuming Robert Griffin III returns to his pre-injury self in 2014, Cousins shouldn't be owned in any fantasy leagues.

Description: With new Redskins head coach Jay Gruden all in on Robert Griffin III, backup quarterback Kirk Cousins has acknowledged that he's open to being traded. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Cousins could solve Cleveland's quarterback problem, though the Browns will probably have a chance to take a quarterback in the draft with the No. 4 overall pick. Cousins owns a mediocre 68.8 quarterback rating in eight career games. Even if he lands a starting job, Cousins will only be worth owning in two quarterback formats.

Description: Redskins QB Kirk Cousins threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns with three turnovers (two INT) Sunday at Atlanta.
Insight: Cousins was facing an Atlanta secondary starting three rookies, but he deserves credit for making some nice throws. He'll have another tasty matchup in Week 16 against Dallas.
12/13/2013 9:39:00 AM
Description: Redskins newly-installed starter Kirk Cousins will face a Falcons' secondary with three rookie starters.
Insight: Atlanta will start rookies at both corners (Robert Alford, Desmond Trufant) and at free safety for the injured Thomas DeCoud (Zeke Motta).
12/11/2013 10:27:00 AM
Description: According to espn.com, the Redskins will start Kirk Cousins at quarterback Sunday against the Falcons.
Insight: Mike Shanahan has opted to bench Robert Griffin III to keep him healthy for the offseason. after Washington surrendered 24 sacks over the last five games. The 25-year-old Cousins has completed 45-of-73 (61.6%) for 573 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions during his NFL career and threw for 329 yards and two touchdowns in his lone start. While Atlanta's defense has given up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing QBs, fantasy owners cannot trust Cousins in the fantasy playoffs.

Description: Washington backup QB Kirk Cousins (sprained foot) said he would be ready for Week 1.
Insight: Cousins only has fantasy value as the handcuff to Robert Griffin III, but given the seriousness of RGIII's injury and the fact he won't play in the preseason, owners must roster Cousins.
8/20/2013 2:10:00 PM
Description: Washington QB Kirk Cousins sprained his foot Monday against the Steelers, but an MRI came back negative and he should be ready for Week 1.
Insight: Cousins only has fantasy value as the handcuff to Robert Griffin III, but given the seriousness of his injury, owners must roster Cousins or be prepared to spend a middle pick on another quality quarterback.
8/19/2013 9:54:00 PM
Description: Washington QB Kirk Cousins sprained his foot Monday against the Steelers.
Insight: Journeyman Rex Grossman has come on in relief of Cousins. Neither player holds much fantasy value behind RG3.
1/6/2013 9:30:00 PM
Description: Redskins rookie quarterback Kirk Cousins completed only 3-of-10 passes Sunday in a loss to Seattle.
Insight: With the Redskins down by two scores in the fourth quarter, Cousins was forced to air it out and the Seahawks defenders knew what was coming. If coach Mike Shanahan had brought Cousins into the game earlier instead of waiting for Robert Griffin III's knee to give out, the Redskins may have had a better chance to win the game.
12/27/2012 11:51:00 AM
Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Redskins will be looking for a high draft pick in a trade for quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Insight: Cousins did well in his one start this season (329 yards, two TD) but he has no future in Washington with Robert Griffin III playing ahead of him. Arizona, Kansas City, the New York Jets and Jacksonville could all be in the market for a new quarterback next season.
12/17/2012 2:52:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins, who completed 26-of-37 passes for 329 yards Sunday in a 38-21 win against Cleveland may have shown enough to become the "must handcuff" for fantasy owners who select Robert Griffin III next season.
Insight: Assuming the Redskins don't trade Cousins to help make up for the draft picks they used to get RGIII, Cousins will be a late-round must for RGIII owners who have seen their star QB take a lot of hard hits this season.
12/16/2012 6:11:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 26-of-37 passes for 329 yards Sunday in a win against Cleveland.
Insight: As Larry David would say, Cousins was pretty, pretty good. Despite his excellent performance against the Browns, Robert Griffin III (sprained knee) will probably be taking the reigns back from Cousins next Sunday in Philadelphia.
12/14/2012 3:53:00 PM
Description: Washington backup quarterback Kirk Cousins took all the reps with the first string in Friday's practice and for that matter all week, according to Jay Glazer.
Insight: Coach Mike Shanahan said he hasn't ruled Griffin (knee sprain) and would certainly like him to play, but be prepared for Cousins to be the Washington starter.
12/11/2012 12:50:00 PM
Description: In an interview with CSNWashington.com, Washington wide receiver Pierre Garcon indicated that Kirk Cousins would be the starting quarterback for Week 15. "We have a little bit tougher of a task with Kirk starting," he said.
Insight: Freudian slip, intentional deception or just planning for all possibilities, we're not sure. Coach Mike Shanahan said he hasn't ruled Griffin (knee sprain) out.
