Description: 49ers inside linebacker Patrick Willis (toe) has been declared out for Week 7 against Denver.
Insight: With the 49ers already missing Navarro Bowman and Aldon Smith at linebacker, this is a huge loss for the team. Rookie Chris Borland will make his first career start.

Description: Doctors have diagnosed 49ers inside linebacker Patrick Willis with a sprained toe, and he is "unlikely" to play in Week 7 according to Profootballtalk.
Insight: Willis is seeking a second opinion. He would be a huge loss in Week 7 against the Broncos with the 49ers already missing Navarro Bowman and Aldon Smith at linebacker.

10/14/2014 11:49:00 AM
Description: 49ers inside linebacker Patrick Willis will have an MRI done Tuesday on his foot/toe.
Insight: Willis left the stadium Monday in a walking boot. The 49ers are already pretty thin at linebacker missing Aldon Smith and Navarro Bowman.

Description: 49ers inside linebacker Patrick Willis is out for the rest of Monday night's game against the Rams due to a toe injury.
Insight: ESPN announcer Mike Tirico announced the injury right before a commercial in the third quarter. He did not reveal any more details than the injury and the fact Willis would not return. Check back for more updates.

Insight: Willis missed last week's contest against St. Louis because of a pulled groin but he's been practicing all week. Expect the six-time Pro Bowler and former first-round pick to be on the field Sunday night at Candlestick Park.

9/26/2013 8:06:00 PM
Description: San Francisco linebacker Patrick Willis is out for Thursday's game versus the Rams.
Insight: He's been battling a groin injury and hasn't practiced all week. It's a huge blow for the 49ers, who will also be without their best pass rusher Aldon Smith (rehab).

9/24/2013 6:54:00 PM
Description: San Francisco All-Pro linebacker Patrick Willis (groin) said he is "hopeful" that he'll play Thursday against the Rams, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Insight: Willis left Sunday's game with a groin injury and doesn't have a lot of time to heal with the 49ers on a short week. With Aldon Smith out while he deals with alcohol issues, the 49ers defense could be down two of its best players Thursday.

9/23/2013 4:40:00 PM
Description: San Francisco All-Pro linebacker Patrick Willis injured his groin and is not expected to be available for Thursday's game with St. Louis.
Insight: Willis will have an MRI on Monday night, but with just four days until the next game its unlikely that he can rehab in time. Add in Aldon Smith being placed on the reserve/NFI list and you have a vastly weaker 49ers' defense.

8/1/2013 11:46:00 AM
Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis is dealing with a fractured right hand.
Insight: Schefter called it a "slight" fracture and said that Willis will play through the injury. Willis dealt with the same injury back in 2007 and ended up winning Rookie of the Year honors. That, ladies and gentleman, is called toughness.

9/24/2012 3:16:00 PM
Description: 49ers LB Patrick Willis left Sunday's game with a sprained ankle but the team doesn't think it's serious and he's expected to be ready for next Sunday against the Jets.
Insight: Willis is a key player in the 49ers defense and his loss would certainly be felt, but at this point we don't expect to have that problem. The 49ers defense should be a good play in Week 4 against a Jets offense that hasn't done much since Week 1.

1/29/2010 4:51:00 PM
Description: According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, via Twitter, Willis (right knee) has bowed out of the Pro Bowl with a "slight" knee injury.
Insight: Barrows reports Willis is dealing with bursitis in the knee, which has caused swelling, but the 48ers reportedly said he'd be "good to go" if it were a regular season game. Carolina's Jon Beason will take his place on the NFC roster. (SportsBuff.com)

Insight: Willis returned to limited practice last week after missing a little over two weeks after rolling his ankle on the first day of training camp. The injury does not appear to be a major concern, and Willis is expected to practice fully next week. He should be one of the first, if not the first, LB off the board in IDP leagues.
