Description: Carolina has reached a one-year agreeement with former Eagles wideout Jason Avant.
Insight: Philadelphia may not have been as eager to cut Avant had they known of DeSean Jackson's off field issues. Either way, he's with Cam Newton now and figures to start alongside Jerricho Cotchery. As long as Avant stays healthy, we'd expect him to improve on the 38 catches and 447 receiving yards he totaled last season.

3/4/2014 6:59:00 PM
Description: As expected, the Eagles have released veteran wide receiver Jason Avant.
Insight: There were just too many mouths to feed in Philadelphia's crowded offense. Avant (38 catches, 447 yards, 2 TD in 2013) will earn a roster spot somewhere this offseason, though we doubt he'll have any fantasy value.

2/26/2014 9:56:00 AM
Description: According to Brandon Lee of SB Nation, the Eagles are likely to release wide receiver Jason Avant before his $1 million roster bonus kicks in on March 15th.
Insight: Even with Jeremy Maclin sidelined, all Avant could muster last season was 38 catches for 447 receiving yards. At age 30, Avant has already peaked. Cutting him loose would free up almost $4 million in cap space.

12/30/2012 1:20:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jason Avant left the season finale against New York with a foot/knee problem.
Insight: Avant has been one of the team's primary targets over the last four games with 22 receptions for 326. The receiving workload will fall on Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper and Damaris Johnson if Avant can't return.

12/9/2012 5:52:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jason Avant had a season-high 133 yards on seven receptions Sunday against the Buccaneers.
Insight: Avant was targeted 12 times, also a season-high. He's been thrown to 17 times over the past two weeks. While we don't recommend starting any member of Philadelphia's passing offense Thursday against the Bengals, Avant could be a solid option in Week 16 versus Washington.

12/2/2012 7:06:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jason Avant, who pulled a hamstring against Dallas and missed the games against Washington and Carolina is active and will play in the rematch with the Cowboys.
Insight: Avant could be a solid receiver option with DeSean Jackson sidelined. He should get the start oppostie Jeremy Maclin.

11/28/2012 2:22:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jason Avant, who pulled a hamstring against Dallas and missed the games against Washington and Carolina is back at practice on Wednesday.
Insight: Avant could be a solid receiver option with DeSean Jackson sidelined. Avant should get the start oppostie Jeremy Maclin.

11/20/2012 11:52:00 AM
Description: Eagles receiver Jason Avant, who pulled a hamstring against Dallas and missed the game against Washington, is questionable for Monday's against Carolina.
Insight: Avant is a solid third receiver behind DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin, but his fantasy value is low unless he's replacing one of them in the starting lineup.

11/16/2012 3:25:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jason Avant pulled a hamstring in Sunday's loss to Dallas and is out for Week 11 against Washington.
Insight: Rookie quarterback Nick Foles will have both starters, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin along with Riley Cooper and Brent Celek so he has plenty of talent to throw to. Now if he'll just get time to throw.

11/12/2012 12:58:00 PM
Description: Eagles receiver Jason Avant pulled a hamstring in Sunday's loss to Dallas and is listed as doubtful for Week 11 against Washington.
Insight: Avant could have been a solid fantasy option against the Redskins with Jeremy Maclin questionable due to a bad back. If Avant and Maclin aren't active, Riley Cooper could end up with fantasy-worthy value against Washington starting opossite DeSean Jackson.

11/29/2010 11:04:00 AM
Description: Avant had eight receptions for 83 yards against the Bears on Sunday.
Insight: Avant may be worth a roster spot in deep leagues, but he is not consistent enough to be a starting option. (RapidDraft.com)

11/16/2010 10:02:00 AM
Description: Avant had five receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown against the Redskins on Monday night.
Insight: Avant is only ownable in the deepest fantasy leagues, as his targets are likely to be inconsistent as the Eagles' No. 3 wide receiver. (RapidDraft.com)

10/22/2010 10:02:00 AM
Description: Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports, via Twitter, that Avant will start Sunday against Tennessee in place of DeSean Jackson (concussion).
Insight: Avant could make for a solid bye week replacement if you have a need this week. (RapidDraft.com)

8/16/2010 4:02:00 PM
Description: The Philadelphia Daily News reports Avant suffered his first couple of dropped passes of training camp during Sunday's practice.
Insight: Avant has been spectacular in training camp to this point, and should be the Eagles' No. 3 wide receiver when the season starts. He could have value in deeper fantasy leagues. (Rapid Draft.com)

3/8/2010 11:07:00 AM
Description: Philadelphia Eagles.com reports the Eagles have agreed to a five-year deal with Avant.
Insight: Avant caught a career-high 41 passes last season, so the team made a long-term investment (as well as that can be defined in the NFL) in him. (SportsBuff.com)

12/27/2009 10:13:00 PM
Description: Avant had two receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown in Philadelphia's win over Denver on Sunday.
Insight: Avant does not produce consistently enough to a major fantasy contributor, and the plethora of targets available to Donovan McNabb limits his upside. (SportsBuff.com)

12/16/2009 10:03:00 AM
Description: According to Philadelphia Eagles.com, Avant is projected to start opposite DeSean Jackson with Jeremy Maclin (foot) out this week.
Insight: Avant has not produced consistently enough to be an every week fantasy option and has a potentially tough matchup this week against San Francisco. He is nothing more than a WR3 this week. (SportsBuff.com)

8/28/2009 2:20:00 PM
Description: Avant had five receptions for 92 yards in Thursday night's game against Jacksonville.
Insight: Avant's spot on the Eagles' roster seems secure, but his fantasy value is limited due to the plethora of options in the team's passing game. (SportsBuff.com)

Cold4/25/2009 7:18:00 PM
Description: Avant might get pushed out of his No. 3 role after the team drafted Jeremy Maclin in the first round Saturday.
Insight: Avant didn't offer strong fantasy value to begin with, so he wouldn't be a big loss. (SportsBuff.com)

Hot4/11/2009 5:24:00 PM
Description: Unless the Eagles use a high pick on a receiver later this month, Avant should hang onto his role as the team's No. 3 wideout.
Insight: Avant improved his reception total again in his third season, going from 23 to 32. He's a solid player and could be drafted as a bye-week fill-in by fantasy players in deep leagues. He doesn't carry a whole lot of value at this point, though. (SportsBuff.com)
