Against the advice of his head coach Pete Carroll, the junior signal-caller decided to forego his final season with the USC Trojans and throw his name into the NFL Draft for 2009...Sanchez, who set a new Rose Bowl record by completing 80 percent of his attempts (28-of-35) versus Penn State in a 38-24 win, finished with 413 yards and four touchdowns in the final decision of his college career...Overall, the All-Pac-10 Conference performer threw for 3,207 yards and 34 touchdowns, against just 10 interceptions in his junior campaign...While seeing limited time for the Trojans in 2007 when John David Booty was on the sidelines, Sanchez accounted for 695 yards and seven scores, but also five picks...Former USC quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart, both of whom won the Heisman Trophy, returned for their senior seasons with the program, which is why the move by Sanchez had met with such scrutiny early on...However, operating in a highly successful offense with a program that has churned out one great player after another for the NFL, Sanchez could be in the right place at the right time given the quality of QBs available in this year's draft.
