Description: The Patriots have placed All-Pro tackle Sebastian Vollmer on season-ending injured reserve.
Insight: Vollmer broke his leg when he got tangled up with Miami's Randy Starks Sunday in the second quarter of New England's 27-17 victory. Marcus Cannon is a solid replacement at right tackle but he's no Vollmer.

Description: New England tackle Sebastian Vollmer suffered a broken right leg Sunday against the Dolphins and is undergoing surgery on Monday.
Insight: Vollmer could be done for the season, giving the Patriots' struggling offense another issue to deal with. Tom Brady should not be started in Week 9 against the Steelers.

Description: New England tackle Sebastian Vollmer was carted off the field with what is being called a right leg injury Sunday against Miami.
Insight: Vollmer was tripped up by Dolphins defensive tackle Randy Starks. He looked to be in a lot of pain and the training staff was quick to put his leg in an air cast. Obviously he won't be returning to action anytime soon. Marcus Cannon will take over for Vollmer at right tackle.

Description: Field Yates of ESPN Boston reports that the Patriots have agreed to a four-year deal with right tackle Sebastian Vollmer.
Insight: Vollmer was an All-Pro selection for the Pats in 2010. His presence on the offensive line should comfort Tom Brady quite a bit. New England drafted Vollmer as a second-round pick from the University of Houston back in 2009.
