10/2/2014 4:43:00 PM
Description: Wide receiver Donnie Avery has sports hernia surgery and will miss about a month, according to a Kansas City Star report.
Insight: Avery hasn't proven to be an effective fantasy receiver and we're not high on his replacement, A.J. Jenkins, either.

9/30/2014 2:16:00 PM
Description: Wide receiver Donnie Avery suffered an abductor strain, according to beat reporter Terez A. Paylor.
Insight: Avery is doubtful on a short work week. He hasn't caught more than three balls since opening day and doesn't carry much fantasy value.

9/16/2014 2:03:00 PM
Description: Wide receiver Donnie Avery leads the Chiefs in targets through two games with 19.
Insight: Avery saw 13 targets in Week 1 with Dwayne Bowe sidelined due to a suspension (caught seven for 84 yards) but returned to a more pedestrian level in Week 2 with six targets (three catches) for 14 yards.

1/4/2014 6:44:00 PM
Description: Jamaal Charles wasn't the only Chief to suffer a concussion on Saturday. Wide receiver Donnie Avery has also been diagnosed with one and will now miss the rest of the game. SOURCE: Albert Breer, NFL.com
Insight: Avery roasted cornerback Greg Toler earlier for a 79-yard touchdown reception. The catch was Avery's lone contribution to this game, though he was targeted unsuccessfully on two other occasions. Dwayne Bowe and Dexter McCluster both figure to see more looks in Avery's absence.

8/15/2013 1:29:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN.com, Donnie Avery is expected to be the Chiefs No. 2 receiver ahead of Jon Baldwin, who has "failed to show the consistency to be a top-of-the-rotation player."
Insight: Even in an offense that figures to be pass heavy, Avery is unlikely to be more than a bye-week fill-in player in 12-team leagues. He saw 124 targets from Andrew Luck last year with the Colts and caught 60 balls for 781 yards and three scores. We'll see how he adapts to a quarterback like Alex Smith.

3/13/2013 9:11:00 PM
Description: Donnie Avery has signed a three-year, $8.55 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Insight: Avery experienced a resurgence with the Colts in 2012 with 60 receptions for 781 yards and three touchdowns. He'll likely be the Chiefs No. 2 receiver across from Dwayne Bowe in 2013.

12/9/2012 7:24:00 PM
Description: Indianapolis wideout Donnie Avery only had three catches on nine targets Sunday against the Titans after catching five balls for 91 yards and two scores on 14 looks in the Colts' comeback win over Detroit in Week 14.
Insight: Avery finished with 31 yards and affirmed why Reggie Wayne is the only Colts receiver fantasy owners can trust on a week-to-week basis.

11/20/2012 12:20:00 PM
Description: Indianapolis wideout Donnie Avery is questionable for Sunday's game against Buffalo. He's dealing with concussion symptoms.
Insight: Avery has been the Colts' No.2 target behind Reggie Wayne. Backup T.Y. Hilton (6-100-2 against the Patriots) has proven he can get the job done if Avery is inactive.

11/8/2012 7:47:00 PM
Description: As expected, Indianapolis wideout Donnie Avery will play Thursday against the Jaguars.
Insight: Avery had been dealing with a sore hip. He's coming off an excellent game last week against the Dolphins (five catches, 108 yards).

11/8/2012 1:19:00 PM
Description: Colts receiver Donnie Avery (hip) is expected to play Thursday against the Jaguars after putting in full practices this week.
Insight: While Avery is second on the team in targets he has been losing looks to rookie T.Y. Hilton. You're taking a major risk playing either Avery or Hilton this week, even in a favorable matchup against the Jaguars. If we had to choose one, we'd go with the healthy Hilton.

11/6/2012 2:05:00 PM
Description: According to coach Bruce Arians, Colts receiver Donnie Avery (hip) will be a game-time decision.
Insight: Avery is second on the Colts in targets (68) behind Reggie Wayne. He's caught 34 balls for 454 yards and one touchdown. If Avery doesn't play, we will likely see more of exciting roookie T.Y. Hilton (24-355-2).

11/4/2012 3:30:00 PM
Description: According to coach Bruce Arians, Colts receiver Donnie Avery (hip) will be a game-time decision.
Insight: Avery is second on the Colts in targets (68) behind Reggie Wayne. He's caught 34 balls for 454 yards and one touchdown. If Avery doesn't play, we will likely see more of exciting roookie T.Y. Hilton (24-355-2).

9/23/2012 4:47:00 PM
Description: Colts receiver Donnie Avery caught just two balls for 28 yards in Week 3. Avery had nine receptions a week ago.
Insight: It wasn't Austin Collie who took receptions away from Avery in Week 3, it was T.Y. Hilton. Collie only caught one pass before leaving with a knee injury but Hilton grabbed four balls for 113 yards and a touchdown against the Jaguars. It's clear that Luck is going to spread the ball around and no Colts receiver other than Reggie Wayne can be trusted in fantasy leagues right now.

9/23/2012 12:01:00 PM
Description: Colts receiver Donnie Avery is in the starting lineup on Sunday even though Austin Collie is active.
Insight: Avery has shown excellent chemistry with quarterback Andrew Luck so there's no guarantee he's going to receive less targets with Collie around. We'll have to see how the Colts utilize their receivers this week.

9/21/2012 3:06:00 PM
Description: Colts receiver Donnie Avery caught nine passes for 111 yards Sunday, but could see a significant drop in targets with the probable return of Austin Collie.
Insight: Avery has been targeted 18 times in two games. Andrew Luck found Avery for his only touchdown in Week 1 and the two hooked up plenty in Week 2.

9/16/2012 5:18:00 PM
Description: Colts receiver Donnie Avery has taken full advantage of Austin Collie's absence in two games this season. Avery caught nine passes for 111 yards Sunday.
Insight: Andrew Luck found Avery for his only touchdown a week ago and the two hooked up plenty in Week 2. Avery is a solid pickup for owners looking for receivers but his value will be hurt by Austin Collie when Collie finally gets back in the lineup. If Collie is healthy, he's the receiver to own, not Avery.

8/16/2012 11:33:00 AM
Description: According to the Indianapolis Star, receiver Donnie Avery appears to have settled into the No. 3 wide reciver slot for the Colts.
Insight: There's some potential here given that rookie of the year favorite Andrew Luck will be under center for Indianapolis in 2012. We're still a bit hesitant to endorse Avery as a top fantasy pick considering that he's never registered more than 700 yards in a season, but don't completely disregard the 28-year-old either.

3/24/2012 10:57:00 AM
Description: WR Donnie Avery signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
Insight: Avery has good speed, but can't seem to stay healthy. The 33rd pick of the 2008 draft by St. Louis, he had just three catches for 45 yards last season in Tennessee after 100 receptions and 1,263 yards in his first two seasons.

9/29/2011 12:57:00 AM
Description: Tennessee signed WR Donnie Avery to a one-year deal Wednesday.
Insight: Avery, a former St. Louis Ram who didn't play at all in 2010 after ACL surgery, takes the roster spot of WR Kenny Britt, who tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee Sunday. The Titans have been looking all week at free agent WRs to fill that roster spot and ultimately decided they liked Avery's upside. He has good speed and great hands and was actually considered to be one of the better receivers the Rams had until his injury.

9/4/2011 8:29:00 AM
Description: Rams waived WR Donnie Avery.
Insight: This release was a bit of surprise as the Rams opted to keep Danario Alexander, who has a track record with injuries as well. Avery also had a decent preseason, as well. Avery should garner some attention as a free agent throughout the league. The Cardinals and Browns are two teams off the top of our heads that could use WR help.
