Played in all 12 games as a senior for the Miners, finishing third on the roster with 85 total tackles...Howard produced seven tackles for loss and accounted for three of the team's 29 sacks, in addition to recovering one fumble and posting an interception for the group...Named to the Conference USA Second Team at the end of 2005 after being named to the All-WAC Second Team in 2004 before the school changed conferences...The eight sacks as a junior for Howard tied for fourth best in school history...Before putting up 62 stops in 2004, Howard exploded with 118 tackles in 2003 as a sophomore for UTEP and was also recognized as one of the top freshman defenders in the WAC in 2002 when he came away with 31 tackles, of which 23 were unassisted through 11 games...Landed at UTEP as a walk-on in 2001 and became one of the most dominant linebackers in school history which goes to show the sort of determination and drive that Howard possesses...Can change the momentum of a game with the ferocity of his hitting, although he still needs to work at getting bigger and stronger in order to make as much of an impact at the pro level.
