NCAA Game Summary - Colorado State at Air Force

US Air Force Academy, CO (Sports Network) - Cody Getz rushed for 222 yards on
25 carries to push Air Force to a 42-21 triumph over the Colorado State Rams in
a Mountain West Conference matchup at Falcon Stadium.
Getz became the first player in program history to begin a season with four
consecutive 100-yard performances. Connor Dietz threw for 57 yards and two
touchdowns while racking up 54 rushing yards for Air Force (2-2, 1-1 Mountain
West), which picked up its first win in league play of the season. Ty MacArthur
gained 75 yards and scored twice on seven carries. Jon Lee contributed 58 yards
and a rushing touchdown on 10 carries.
M.J. McPeek led Colorado State (1-4, 0-1) with 292 yards on 22-of-34 passing.
McPeek threw two touchdown passes and a pair of interceptions. Lou Greenwood
reeled in three receptions for 118 yards and a score.
Air Force took a commanding lead in the first frame. Lee put the Falcons up 7-0
with a seven-yard touchdown rush just 81 seconds after kickoff. Then, Dietz
completed a 53-yard touchdown pass to Drew Coleman with just over ten minutes
left in the first frame. The Falcons closed out the first quarter with another
score, as MacArthur rushed four yards for a touchdown to put his squad up,
Colorado State ended the run seconds into the second period as McPeek completed
a 55-yard pass to Greenwood for a score.
Air Force came right back with a seven-play, 67-yard drive which was punctuated
by a 27-yard run across the goal line by Dontae Strickland.
McPeek managed to lead the Rams on another scoring drive which ended with a 13-
yard touchdown pass to Crockett Gillmore. The touchdown reception by Gillmore
narrowed the Falcons' lead to 28-14 with 4:13 left in the opening half.
With two minutes left in the second quarter, Chris Nwoke fumbled at midfield
and Air Force's Steffon Batts recovered. Getz broke off a 44-yard run on the
next play to set up a four-yard touchdown pass from Dietz to Marcus Hendricks.
Dietz's second touchdown pass of the contest gave the Falcons a 35-14 lead
heading into the intermission.
The Rams showed some life in the third quarter as they drove down the field
after taking over on their own five yard line. After Colorado State drove all
the way to AFA's one-yard line, Tommey Morris fumbled into the end zone.
However, Kivon Cartwright managed to recover it to give CSU a touchdown.
Air Force answered with a six-play, 62-yard drive which was finished off by a
34-yard touchdown run by MacArthur. The Falcons' fourth rushing touchdown of
the game gave them a commanding, 42-21, advantage with just over two minutes
left in the third quarter.
Neither side managed to add to their point totals in the final frame.
Air Force compiled 516 total yards, 459 of which were gained on the ground.
Colorado State tallied 441 total yards.
