Final Score: Arkansas State 50, Louisiana 27
Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Frankie Jackson rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns and the Arkansas State Red Wolves gashed the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 50-27, in a Sun Belt Conference tilt.
Rocky Hayes and David Oku each ran for over 80 yards and a touchdown while Ryan Aplin threw for 269 yards with a score to complement a Red Wolves running attack that amassed 257 yards on the ground.
Arkansas State (5-3, 3-1 Sun Belt) picked up its first win in Lafayette since 1992 and won its third straight game overall.
Terrance Broadway threw three interceptions for Louisiana (4-3, 2-2), which had its eight-game home win streak snapped. Broadway finished with 374 yards and three touchdowns on 28-of-39 efficiency in the loss.
Darryl Surgent's second touchdown from Broadway was on a 25-yard connection early in the third quarter, but Oku and Hayes went in from five and 57 yards out, respectively, to give Arkansas State a commanding 40-14 lead.
Brian Davis added a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, his fifth of the game after hitting from 47 and 22 yards in the opening frame and 45 and 21 yards late in the second.
Jackson made it 13-0 with an 11-yard TD run on the first play of the second quarter, and less than a minute later Julian Jones hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from Aplin after Broadway threw an interception.
Surgent scored on a 38-yard grab midway through the second, and Torrey Pierce ran for a Ragin' Cajuns touchdown in the fourth.
Jackson bulled his way over the goal line for a 2-yard TD with just over a minute left in the game, and Broadway hooked up with James Butler in the end zone just as time expired.
