Final Score: (22) UCLA 37, Houston 6
Pasadena, CA (Sports Network) - Brett Hundley threw two touchdown passes as 22nd-ranked UCLA routed Houston, 37-6.
Hundley went 27-for-42 with 320 yards and two interceptions while Jonathan Franklin ran for 110 yards on 25 carries for the Bruins (3-0), who have scored 115 points in their first three games.
"I don't think you should ever be satisfied until the end when you're a champion," said UCLA coach Jim Mora. "I think our players feel like that. They are happy that they won, but I don't think they are satisfied with the overall performance of our team."
David Piland was picked off five times and finished the game 28-for-60 with 249 yards and had a rushing touchdown for the Cougars (0-3), who are struggling in 2012 after going 13-1 last season.
"They played well which gave our offense trouble," said Houston coach Tony Levine.
The second play of the game saw UCLA take the lead as Piland fumbled on a rush and Eric Kendricks returned it 23 yards for a score.
Later in the first quarter, the Bruins went on a 15-play, 90-yard drive that saw Hundley cap the march with a 7-yard scoring toss to Datone Jones for a 14-0 lead.
Ka'imi Fairbairn's 35-yard field goal 2 1/2 minutes into the second quarter accounted for the only score of the frame as the game went into break with UCLA leading 17-0.
The Bruins started the second half with the ball and needed just over two minutes to get into the end zone when Hundley hit Jordon James on a 12-yard score.
Fairbarin hit field goals of 23 and 33 yards later in the third to give the team a 30-0 lead heading into the final frame.
Piland finally got his team on the board with under five minutes to play in the game with his 86-yard run. The team went for two points and failed while Steven Manfro countered a less than two minutes later with a 14-yard run to account for the final score.
