Final Score: (1) Alabama 40, Florida Atlantic 7
Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) - AJ McCarron spearheaded another dominant Alabama performance, throwing three touchdown passes as the top-ranked Crimson Tide pounded the Florida Atlantic Owls, 40-7, on Saturday.
McCarron finished with 212 yards on 15-of-25 efficiency for Alabama (4-0).
"I was really much more pleased with the way our team approached this game, the way they actually played in the game in terms of the kind of intensity that we played with, the sense of urgency, the discipline that we had," said Alabama coach Nick Saban.
The Crimson Tide produced points on each of their first seven drives while limiting the Owls (1-3) to six first downs and 110 yards of total offense.
Florida Atlantic quarterback Graham Wilbert attempted only 13 passes, completing seven of them for 34 yards. He threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Alex Deleon to spoil Alabama's bid for a third consecutive shutout with 2:49 remaining in the fourth quarter.
"They are as physical a team as there is out there," said Florida Atlantic coach Carl Pelini. "We saw it on film and it translated today. They're a great football team, that's for sure."
The Crimson Tide started fast as McCarron and Kenny Bell hooked up for an 85- yard touchdown on the third play of the game.
DeAndrew White then caught a 4-yard touchdown pass before Cade Foster drilled a 52-yard field goal 11 seconds into the second quarter.
Jeremy Shelley connected on a pair of field goals and Christion Jones caught a 4-yard TD pass to give Alabama a commanding 30-0 halftime lead.
A 46-yard Foster field goal accounted for all the scoring in the third quarter. Kenyan Drake added an 8-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Eddie Lacy rushed for 106 yards on 15 carries for Alabama ... The Crimson Tide racked up 503 yards on offense and were 7-of-14 on third down.
