Willy, Yell among CFL's top players
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Drew Willy and British Columbia Lions defensive back Ronnie Yell were among those selected as the top players for Week 6 of the CFL season.
Willy was named the top offensive player after completing 31-of-43 passes for a career-high 361 yards and one touchdown in Winnipeg's 27-26 comeback win over Hamilton. The lone score came on the final play of the game, as his TD pass to Nic Grigsby and the ensuing PAT gave the Bombers the stunning victory.
Yell picked up defensive honors with an interception return for a touchdown and a forced fumble in BC's 25-24 win over Calgary. He scored on a 34-yard return in the first quarter and the forced fumble in the fourth quarter stopped the Stampeders from making a late comeback attempt.
Hamilton return specialist Quincy McDuffie was chosen as the top special teams player. He returned three kickoffs for a 15.7-yard average and five punts for a 21-yard average with a 67-yard touchdown in the Tiger-Cats' loss to the Bombers.
Lions running back Andrew Harris was selected as the top Canadian for the third time this season. He compiled 143 yards from scrimmage, rushing for 70 yards on 15 carries with 73 yards on five catches, and scored a fourth-quarter touchdown in BC's win over Calgary.
