Lions RB Harris highlights July's best in CFL
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - BC Lions running back Andrew Harris headlined a group of four players selected as the CFL's top performers for the month of July.
Harris took home top Canadian honors after registering 579 yards from scrimmage and scoring three touchdowns to start the season. He leads the league in rushing yards (311) and is fourth in receiving yards (268).
The Winnipeg native, who has already won Canadian Player of the Week twice this season, is second in the league in 646 combined yards.
Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly was selected as the league's top offensive player for July. The Eskimos signal caller has passed for 1,142 yards and owns a 63.6 completion rate with nine touchdowns.
Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive end John Chick was named the Defensive Player of the Month. Chick has recorded a league-leading six sacks, 11 tackles, and one forced fumble.
Toronto Argonauts kicker and punter Swayze Waters took home the Special Teams Player of the Month honors. The Mississippi native made 13-of-14 field goals and averaged a league-high 46.8 yards per punt.
