CFL prospect tests positive for banned substance
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Concordia University lineman Quinn Smith tested positive for a banned substance at the CFL Combine in March.
Smith had performed well at the combine, working as an offensive and defensive lineman. However, he tested positive for a banned substance and said he did not research the contents of the supplements he was taking.
"I accept full responsibility for the result of Stanozolol metabolite in my test," Smith said in a statement. "I can assure you it was not my intention to use a banned substance or to try to beat the system. I did not properly research the contents of supplements I obtained online and I will accept the consequences of my actions. Since it was inadvertent on my part, I have asked to have my B sample tested and am waiting for the results."
Smith had not been ranked among the top 15 prospects prior to the combine, but moved up to the fourth-ranked position on the final pre-draft list afterward.
