Alouettes take a chance on 'Ochocinco'
Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Montreal Alouettes made a splash on Thursday, signing former NFL wideout Chad Johnson to a contract.
"Chad is very happy and excited to be on the field again and we're happy to welcome him to the Alouettes," stated Montreal general manager Jim Popp.
Formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, the 36-year-old last played professionally with the New England Patriots in 2011, totaling 15 catches for 276 yards and one touchdown in 15 games.
The native of Miami and Oregon State product was a second-round selection of Cincinnati in the 2001 draft. He spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Bengals, accumulating 751 receptions for 10,783 yards and 66 TDs over 151 appearances.
