Alouettes ink Parker to two-year deal

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Montreal Alouettes agreed to a new two- year deal with cornerback Billy Parker on Thursday.

Parker posted a career-high 57 tackles while batting down five passes, forcing a fumble and picking off a pass en route to being named a CFL East Division All-Star in 2013.

"Billy is a true leader, both on the field and in the locker room. A voice of wisdom, he offers an intelligent perspective to the game. He is Mr. Consistent," said Alouettes general manager and head coach Jim Popp. "He has always made his biggest plays in the biggest games. Billy offers our team a player-type coach on the field, with a calming approach."

Over five seasons in the CFL, all with the Als, the 32-year-old Parker has racked up 241 tackles and nine interceptions while helping the club claim back-to-back Grey Cup championships in 2009 and 2010.
