Bombers extend Turner, release DeAngelis
Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have extended the contract of defensive tackle Bryant Turner through the 2016 season.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Turner was an East Division All-Star for the second straight year in 2013. He finished the campaign with 14 tackles and tied for the team lead with seven sacks while adding a pair of fumble recoveries in 16 games.
"Bryant has proven to be among the elite defensive linemen in our league," said Bombers general manager Kyle Walters. "His professionalism, work ethic and overall desire to be a winner, along with his outstanding football ability, make this a great extension for us."
Turner has 49 tackles, 16 sacks and three fumble recoveries in his three years with the Bombers.
Winnipeg also released kicker Sandro DeAngelis.
The three-time CFL All-Star signed with the Blue Bombers in August and made 18-of-23 field goal tries.
