RedBlacks select QBs Glenn, DeMarco with first two expansion picks

Ottawa, ON ( - The Ottawa RedBlacks selected quarterbacks Kevin Glenn of Calgary and Thomas DeMarco of British Columbia with their first two picks in the expansion draft.

The RedBlacks will begin play in 2014 and were able to choose eight players each in three rounds to begin stockpiling a roster. Each of the established eight teams could lose just one player per round.

Glenn, a 13-year CFL veteran, spent the past two seasons in Calgary and in 2013 threw for 2,710 yards with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He had a career-best 100.5 quarterback rating in 15 games, helping the Stampeders reach the West Division Final.

The 34-year-old Illinois State product has also played for Saskatchewan, Winnipeg and Hamilton. He has 222 career TD passes and 151 interceptions with 39,418 yards.

DeMarco gives the RedBlacks a young quarterback, as the 24-year-old Old Dominion grad has just two years of experience. He saw his most extensive playing time this year, completing 53.9 percent of his throws for 1,325 yards with 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

The RedBlacks completed the first round by selecting Hamilton running back Chevon Walker, wide receivers Wallace Miles of Winnipeg and Carlton Mitchell of Edmonton, defensive linemen Moton Hopkins of Montreal and Jon Williams of Toronto and offensive lineman James Lee of Saskatchewan.

Second-round choices were for non-import players.
