Miller named president and CEO of Blue Bombers
Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers named Wade Miller president and chief executive officer on Tuesday.
Miller had been serving as acting CEO since Garth Buchko and general manager Joe Mack were dismissed in early August.
"What we have seen in Wade since he became acting CEO is a decisive, solution- oriented leader who isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and get down to the hard work of turning the club around," board chairman Brock Bulbuck said in a statement. "We have seen that from the very first day he was appointed and we have every confidence that he will continue to make the kind of change that will position us with a competitive team and successful business office well into the future."
Miller played 11 seasons with Winnipeg and is a member of the team's Hall of Fame.
"This club is in my blood and I won't rest until I set things right with fans and that means putting a competitive product back on the field that is capable, in the years ahead, of restoring the pride in this once storied franchise," Miller said in a statement. "That is what we owe our fans and that is what I'm 100 percent committed to doing."
The Blue Bombers finished the 2013 season with a league-worst 3-15 record.
