Alouettes, Lions each place 10 on Division All-Star teams
Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Montreal Alouettes and British Columbia Lions each placed 10 players on their respective division All-Star teams.
Montreal quarterback Anthony Calvillo earned his 10th selection to head the East squad, while receiver SJ Green and linemen Josh Bourke, Scott Flory and Luc Brodeur-Jourdain were also chosen from the East-leading Alouettes for the offensive side of the ball. Flory notched his 11th such selection.
Linebackers Chip Cox and Shea Emry, lineman John Bowman and defensive backs Dwight Anderson and Kyries Hebert were Alouettes selected as defensive All- Stars.
Quarterback Travis Lulay headlined the BC choices for the West Division. He was joined by running back Andrew Harris, offensive linemen Angus Reid, Ben Archibald and Jovan Olafioye, defensive end Keron Williams, linebacker Adam Bighill, defensive backs Korey Banks and Ryan Phillips and special teamer Tim Brown.
Calgary had eight selections for the West All-Stars, led by running back Jon Cornish and receiver Nik Lewis. Offensive lineman Dimitri Tsoumpas was also chosen, as were defensive end Charleston Hughes, linebacker Juwan Simpson, cornerback Keon Raymond, kicker Rene Paredes and punter Rob Maver.
Hamilton's picks for the East squad included Chris Williams, who was chosen as both a receiver and special teams player. The remaining Tiger-Cats selected were running back Avon Cobourne, guard Peter Dyakowski, linebacker Renaud Williams, kicker Luca Congi and punter Josh Bartel.
Winnipeg had seven players selected for the East squad, led by running back Chad Simpson, receiver Chris Matthews and lineman Glenn January on offense. Defensive players chosen were tackle Bryant Turner, end Alex Hall and backs Jovon Johnson and Jonathan Hefney.
Toronto had just three players chosen, as receiver Chad Owens, defensive tackle Armond Armstead and cornerback Pat Watkins were picked for the East team.
Saskatchewan also had only three players selected for the West squad, including receivers Weston Dressler and Chris Getzlaf and guard Brendon Labatte.
Edmonton had six players selected on the West team, including five on the defensive side. Receiver Fred Stamps was the lone offensive pick, and he was joined by defensive tackles Ted Laurent and Almondo Sewell, linebacker JC Sherritt, cornerback Joe Burnett and safety Donovan Alexander.
The Division All-Stars were selected by a panel of 70 voters.
