Mason, the Cleveland State Vikings claimed a 67-55 win over the Old Dominion
Monarchs in non-league play from the Wolstein Center.
All five starters scored in double figures for the Vikings (3-1), who
rebounded from Tuesday's loss to fifth-ranked Michigan. Charlie Lee and Anton
Grady scored 13 apiece, while Sebastian Douglas added 11 points, and Tim
Kamczyc finished with 10 points and seven assists.
Conversely, the Monarchs (1-3) did not place any players in double figures and
shot 0-of-10 from beyond the arc.
The Monarchs had the hot hand early, as they led by as many as 10 with 8:16 to
play in the opening frame. CSU narrowed the deficit to 30-25 at the half
despite shooting just 35.7 percent from the floor in the opening frame.
The Vikings began to take control behind a 15-1 run early in the second half,
grabbing a 42-35 lead with 14:14 remaining. They took a 51-41 lead on two
Grady free throws with 9:08 to play and never looked back, as the margin
stretched to as many as 14 late in the contest.
The Vikings committed only nine turnovers for the game, compared to 17
turnovers by the Monarchs. It was the third time in four games this season
that CSU placed all five starters in double figures.
