Insight: He started the season-opener Wednesday night against Boston, stopping 31-of-33 shots in a 2-1 loss. Mason was impressive against the Bruins, making the decision by coach Craig Berube an obvious one, this early in the season.

Insight: It was Mason's first shutout since 2011-12. The 25-year-old is playing his best hockey since 2008-09, when he won the Calder Trophy. He's 5-7-1 with a 2.15 GAA and a .930 SV%.The Flyers are showing signs of life on offense, which is obviously good for their poorly supported netminder.
