Final Score: Columbus 2, Minnesota 1 (SO)
St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Johansen scored the decisive shootout goal as the Columbus Blue Jackets clipped the Minnesota Wild, 2-1, at Xcel Energy Center.
After Columbus goalie Sergei Bobrovsky turned away Matt Moulson to open the fourth round of the tiebreaker, Johansen secured the extra point with a backhander.
Minnesota rookie goalie Darcy Kuemper tried to disrupt the attempt with a poke check, but Johansen pulled the puck to the backhand and sent it into the net.
The goal was upheld following a video review.
"I guess they thought maybe the puck hit the goalie's stick for a second. I guess it was my stick that hit his stick and just found a way to get it in there. Happy they called it a goal," Johansen said.
Bobrovsky made 32 saves for Columbus, which improved to 6-1-1 in its last eight games.
Kuemper stopped 28 shots for the Wild, who went 1-0-3 on a four-game homestand to extend their home point streak to 10 games (7-0-3).
"Down the stretch every point is important," Moulson said.
The game was scoreless for nearly 40 minutes before the Blue Jackets' Dalton Prout's point shot found the back of the net with 21.6 seconds left in the second period.
Minnesota tied things up when Zach Parise won a race to a puck, then dished out from behind the net to Jason Pominville for a one-timer at 3:12 of the third period.
Columbus defenseman Fedor Tyutin was back in the lineup after missing nine games with an ankle injury that he suffered while playing for Russia at the Olympics ... Blue Jackets forward Artem Anisimov returned after sitting out the previous game due to the birth of his first child.
