Final Score: Calgary 4, Dallas 3 (SO)
Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Corban Knight scored in the fourth round of the shootout as the Calgary Flames rallied for a 4-3 win over the Dallas Stars on Friday.
After Tyler Seguin was stopped by Joey MacDonald, Knight skated in and snapped a wrister past the glove of Tim Thomas for the win.
Mike Cammalleri had two goals, including the tying marker in the third, and Paul Byron also scored in the third for the Flames, who have won their past two. MacDonald finished the game with 22 stops.
"It was a great third period and a great comeback," said Calgary head coach Bob Hartley. "We had some good parts in the first and second, but we made some mistakes on our goals and they made us pay for it. They're a dangerous team, but we never quit and that's why this group is so special."
Jamie Benn, Antoine Roussel and Erik Cole all scored for the Stars, who had won three straight coming in. Thomas made 27 stops in defeat.
Byron tapped home a Curtis Glencross rebound for a power-play goal at 12:51 of the third to make it a one-goal game, and the Flames tied the game at 15:30 as T.J. Brodie shot the puck on net from the right point and Cammalleri potted the rebound.
"I thought on both goals we got on the wrong side of the man," said Dallas head coach Lindy Ruff. "The penalty-killing goal, we got on the wrong side. The tying goal, we got on the wrong side. We had some problems defensively tonight and we spent more time in our zone than I thought we needed to. We lost some battles that ended up making the difference in the game."
After a scoreless first period, the Stars needed just 13 seconds to get on the board in the second period on a heavy wrister from Roussel at the left wing.
Calgary tied the game six minutes later as Cammalleri took a pass at the left circle and quickly shot it in.
The Stars, though, regained the lead at 14:16 when Benn tipped home a short pass in the slot, and it was a 3-1 game 2:13 later after Cole tipped in a Brenden Dillon right point blast.
Dallas plays its next three games on the road starting Sunday in Winnipeg ... Calgary plays in Phoenix on Saturday ... Calgary snapped a three-game losing streak to Dallas, including two losses this season ... Calgary scored on its only power play of the game, while Dallas didn't have a single man advantage.
