Jets eke past Red Wings in SO
Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Andrew Ladd notched the game-winner in the shootout to lift the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.
Bryan Little and Zach Bogosian scored one goal apiece for the Jets, winners in three straight. Ondrej Pavelec made 41 saves in the win.
"It gets a little tiring playing overtime games but the shootouts are going for us," Little said.
Pavel Datsyuk scored a pair of goals for the Red Wings, who have dropped four in a row, including three straight after regulation. Jimmy Howard made 19 saves in the setback.
"We didn't win, but I thought we played good. I liked our game today, start to finish. We made some mistakes," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said.
Bogosian's first goal of the season put the Jets ahead 2-1 just past the midway point of the third period, but Datsyuk's second of the game at the 13:11 mark tied things up.
After neither side managed much offense in overtime, Devin Setoguchi gave Winnipeg an early edge in the shootout with a shot over Howard's left shoulder.
Alfredsson followed with an impressive top-shelf goal, but Ladd countered with a laser that cleared Howard's shoulder before rippling the twine.
Pavelec stopped Todd Bertuzzi's backhand try to seal the win.
Little opened the scoring with a one-timer 7:10 into the game. Datsyuk tied it 7 1/2 minutes later with a power play wrister from the right circle.
Ladd, who had an assist, is 5-for-5 in shootouts this season ... Little scored his 11th goal of the season ... Datsyuk has nine goals this season ... The Red Wings are a combined 1-6 in overtime and shootouts this season.
