The consensus SEC Player of the Year in 2008-09, Thornton was the first player in more than a decade to average at least 20 ppg for the LSU Tigers with his 21.1 ppg...A candidate for the Wooden Award, Thornton was also selected First-Team All-SEC as a senior as he posted seven games with at least 30 points...Saw limited action in the first two games of the 2008-09 versus Jackson State and Alcorn State, scoring a total of just 13 points, which made a difference in his final stats...Averaged nearly 34 minutes per game as a junior in 2007-08, posting 19.6 ppg and 5.6 rpg...With 90 three-point baskets as a junior, Thornton recorded the second-highest single-season total in LSU history, en route to placing second in the SEC in scoring...Prior to arriving at LSU he played two years at Kilgore College where he was named a First-Team All-American.
