Dallas Mavericks 2012 Draft Preview
By John McMullen, NBA Editor

Much of the offseason in North Texas will be focused on whether the Mavericks can convince center Dwight Howard and/or point guard and Dallas native Deron Williams that the Metroplex is a fit.

If the club stays at No. 17 in the draft, replacing the defensive presence Tyson Chandler provided in the team's championship season of 2010-11 should be considered as well as replenishing an aging backcourt with two unrestricted free agents in Jason Kidd and Jason Terry.

Point guards Kendall Marshall of North Carolina and Kentucky's Marquis Teague, the brother of the Hawks' Jeff Teague, as well as high-risk/higher-reward Baylor combo forward Perry Jones will be looked at heavily.

Players under contract: F: Dirk Nowitzki; F: Shawn Marion; C: Brendan Haywood; G: Rodrigue Beaubois; G: Dominique Jones
