The LPGA Tour is in Taiwan this week for the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship. The top-7 players in the world are in the field, led by world No. 1 Inbee Park.

Park regained the top spot in the world rankings this week, jumping past American Stacy Lewis. Park has recorded seven straight top-10 finishes, including a victory at the Wegmans LPGA Championship for her fifth career major title. Lewis still sits atop the money list with over $2.3 million in earnings. She is the only player with three victories this season.

Yani Tseng, the former world No. 1 and 2011 champion, will lead the Taiwanese contingent. Tseng has not won since the 2012 Kia Classic. She only has two top-10 finishes on tour this season.

This tournament is being held at Miramar Golf Country Club, which was designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus and opened for play in 1994. The 2011 tournament was the first LPGA Tour event ever held in Taiwan. It coincided with Taiwan celebrating its 100th year of independence.

Last year, Suzann Pettersen birdied three of her last six holes in the final round to successfully defend her title. Pettersen claimed her 14th career LPGA Tour victory and third in five weeks at 9-under-par 279.

In 2012, Pettersen carded four rounds in the 60s and came from behind in the final round to win. Pettersen finished at 19-under-par 269. Her final-round 69 was one of four rounds in the 60s in windy conditions on the final day.

In 2011, Tseng fired a 6-under 66 in the final round to win the inaugural tournament by an impressive five strokes over Amy Yang and Azahara Munoz. Tseng finished the event at 16-under-par 272.

The LPGA Tour travels to Japan next week for the Mizuno Classic, where Teresa Lu won the 2013 title.
